Roslyn
Quaint, quirky - whatever you want to call it, Roslyn has managed to maintain it's identity through mining booms and busts, the rise and fall of the logging industry and even being cast as a character in a TV show. Dedicated in 1886 by the president of the mining company (the story goes that he named the town after the town his sweetheart lived in back East), and incorporated in 1890, Roslyn was the first and foremost mining town. Miners from countries all around the world came to seek their fortunes. Proud of it's history, Roslyn
has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the
cornerstones of downtown is the Brick Tavern, the oldest continuously operating
saloon in the state of Washington. The other historic anchor is the Old
Roslyn City Hall, currently the focus of a renovation campaign.
